"I believe in the natural restorative power of the human body but also aware, as a physician, that we all need help from time to time in order to feel healthy again. To this end, we may discuss and use talk therapy, psychiatric medication, lifestyle changes, and natural treatments. This is a collaborative process."

NEW: DNA testing for common psychiatric medications used in common psychiatric conditions
DNA genetic testing can help inform us which medications are metabolized extensively, poorly, or normally. These genes, and the enzymes for which they code, may affect a patient's response to antidepressants, mood stabilizers, folic acid supplementation (for depression), and stimulant and non-stimulant medication for ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). These tests can include genes involving the cytochrome P450, serotonin, and other neurotransmitter systems.
DNA genetic testing is available in the office: two cotton swabs in the cheek of your mouth, painless and takes only 10-15 seconds.
There is, of course, no substitute for a comprehensive medical evaluation. DNA testing can help inform treatment options, however.
Please contact us for more information or to schedule an evaluation with Dr Peters.
